Kai Nation Supports Rock Against Cancer Event @ St. Leo University (RAC)
Rock Against Cancer is an event that helps raise awareness and funds for cancer patients and their families, and was created 3 years ago. This particular event is run by the sisters of Theta Phi Alpha at Saint Leo University.
For the first two years all proceeds from the concert were donated to American Cancer Society but after two more Theta Phi Alpha sisters were diagnosed the sorority had to find an organization that was geared more towards young adults with cancer.
The sorority found I’m Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation. This organization was founded by and for young adults who have survived cancer. It is the nation’s leading grassroots advocate for the next generation of cancer survivors and their caregivers in their late teens, 20s and 30s.
The event is fully run by the sisters of Theta Phi Alpha and no other organization, it is held in the Bowman Activity Center and cost’s $5 for St. Leo students and $10 for non.
This event is funded through an allocation (or grant) from the Student Government Union. The intention of the event is much more then monetary, it is about educating Saint Leo and greater community about the dangers of cancer.
